Chapter 144: Untitled
An akward silence permeated the courtyard as the black steel lord faced Victoria and her cohort who seemed ready for a fight.
"Hmp!! Children." He sneered, glancing away from their stance as his eyes fell upon a pavilion not to far away to the left.
Seeing the pavilion the Blacksteel lord smirked for a second drawing the attention of the men in white.
"Why is that here?"
"Isn't that…"
"So it's him"
They quickly muttered amongst themselves as the noticed the pavilion. It was a running rumor in the alliance that the Blacksteel shelter had somehow convinced an S Ranked Slayer to become a permanent resident of their shelter.
The problem was no one knew exactly which one. But upon seeing this pavilion it was rather clear.
It was that man.
"Let's seat in the pavilion, it's more comfortable up there" the Blacksteel lord broke into a wild smile, and without waiting for a response he began taking large and stead strides towards the pavilion stairs.
Before Victoria or anyone around could even say a word, he was already standing infront of it with a smile.
"Hmp!!" Victoria sneered.
This pavilion was her fathers treasured echo. It's base was made from the materials of the echo and the pavilion on the outside was ornamented with other things and techniques he had picked up.
An accumulation of his most prized possessions from a few years ago and the reason he got the name silver mountain king.
The story went as such,
A certain family, in a certain city, in a certain deserted area had been besieged by a mysterious power a few years ago, a slaughter took place, and only a few survived. This was quite normal for the place and time, but Unfortunately this time was different as this family house belonged to the owner of this here pavilion.
In the dead of night, this monstrousity appeared before the conquered household, from then whomever left the confines of the household would be mysteriously killed the moment they step foot out.
It didn't matter what they did, how they tried to attack it or escape, this contraption stood like a mountain that had stood since the beginning of time. It was indestructible, grand and also a killing mechine.
The entire incident ended with everyone involved dying in the household, after that….the man just left.
And apparently came here.
At least that was what they knew.
"Woom!!"
As the blacksteel lord touched the pavilion steps, an unbearable pressure descended from the heavens, cascading down onto him and enveloping him with pure energy.
In that instant he felt his body tense up, and his shoulder drop as if a mountain had been placed upon it.
"Hmm, it's not as bad as last time" the Blacksteel lord smirked, and without a ounce of hesitation he rose his leg and took the next step.
Climbing onto or attempting to wield an S Ranks treasured echo was seen as the most disrespectful thing one could attempt to do. Emphasis on attempt since it was a close to impossible feat for someone below S Rank.
But the Blacksteel lord was doing that exact thing.
"Cough"
On the 7th step however he abruptly stopped and coughed up a mouthful of blood. This was his limit.
"He's strong, a Slayer of his strength shouldn't even make it past the 3rd step" Victoria sneered. Her tone was filled with annoyance and malice, after all it was her father's authority being challenged here.
However, she could still admire strength, the Blacksteel lord was truly as exceptional as the rumors stated.
"Hehe, I've grown stronger" Wiping the blood from his mouth, The Blacksteel lord broke into a smirk clearly impressed by his steady advancement. He was not able to achieve this those many years ago.
"Boom"
As the all stood there waiting for the lord to come back down, a strange sound sounded on the stairs as a heavy item landed on the red wooded stair and tumbled two steps down.
"Maximum effort!!" The blacksteel lord barked a smile appearing on his blood socked teeth.
In the next second he proceeded to climb up the remaining steps in quick succession, on the 8th step lacerations appeared on his skin, then blood dripped from his pores, on the 9th step his bones seemed to crack like an eggshell, but even with all that he kept moving steadily.
"Prideful and arrogant!!" Victoria sneered once more this time nearly losing her cool.
She watched with her very eyes as this old arrogant man climbed onto her father's treasure till the last step.
But she could do nothing.
"Calm, there's no grudge between the Blacksteels and us" Hamdel suddenly said with a smile at Victoria.
The kid was over protective of her father, so he could understand why she was pissed. Fortunately the Blacksteels were actually allies so nothing would really happen to the pavilion.
After climbing, the blacksteel lord was able to deactivate the defense array allowing the rest to move up quite easily and take seats.
"So, Guilliman…these gentlemen here are here for you. They want to know what you saw beyond that portal" the blacksteel lord spoke rather nonchalantly.
He was covered in blood and wounds, but seemed completely calm. It looked very natural.
"Ohh, that's yes" Guilliman hearing these words nodded and turned to the men in white.
"Go ahead kid, we want all the details, everything" the leader spoke quite enthusiastically.
"Yes, I'll start from when we entered the main cave" Guilliman with a cold face started speaking, describing what had happened word for word, recounting all that he could remember.
With each word they heard from his mouth, they all felt varied levels of shock and excitement, then terror and to an extent understanding.
This boy had been forced to do a lot of things, a few of them decisions most of them would struggle with.
But fortunately, at the end it all worked out.
"What kind of pyramids?" Getting to a particular point of the story, the leader couldn't help but ask, a serious expression on his face.
"Well, they were made from something metallic and rocky, but very much different from the kind found in a typical desert" Guilliman explained.
This was normal procedure after clearing any gate, report to the lord. He had done this before, so doing it now was like a repitation.
"Tell them about the thing kid, there's no need to hide it"
All of a sudden while the rest were processing what guilliman was saying, the Blacksteel lord spoke.
What do you think?
