Chapter 714: Catching Up With Rosalyn
Chapter 714: Catching Up With Rosalyn
“What the f*ck is going on?! What the f*ck is going on???” Rosalyn’s veins threatened to burst as she lunged forward.
“You think you can say that sh*t after everything you caused?! Let me go! I’m going to smack some sense into her!” Rosalyn shouted with Ria and Luke hurriedly restraining her with all their might.
Alice coughed awkwardly, trying to play it off.
“Ahem, I dunno what you mean. I’m just tryin-”
“Showcasing the power of a Lord then fighting one! Do you think I’m blind and deaf?! If things escalated further without that chick stopping the other three, this place would be a hellhole right now!” Rosalyn clenched her fist in anger along with a glare that could kill a man.
“Gods give me patience! If they give me strength you’ll be six feet under! Sh*t! You’re just like Lua and Kaden, giving me random crap to clean up!”
Hearing the mention of Allura and Kaden’s name, Alice couldn’t help but smile.
But more than that, she was a little surprised about Rosalyn’s appearance. Last she checked, Rosalyn looked just like Allura. Though it seems like she managed to resolve that issue in the time they haven’t seen each other.
And on top of everything, Alice saw a sight she’s missed for a while.
[Rosalyn – Abyss Lord of Scarlet Ruin ✦✦✦✦✦✦✦]
As for Ria and Luke, both of them had markings of six Sigils above their heads.
“At least the f*cking Apostle is gone.” She sighed, barely managing to calm down. “I know you two were fighting but-”
“Erm about that. . .” Alice coughed awkwardly. “I killed her for my sixth Sigil.” She wanted to stop Rosalyn before she had any misconceptions.
All three of their heads snapped towards Alice. Their pupils constricting in shock surprise and disbelief.
They knew that Alice was fighting an Apostle beforehand but when they arrived, only Lilith was there. They assumed that Alice had run out of steam before passing out, barely entertaining the idea that an Apostle lost.
After all, it’s an Apostle. A level beyond that of Lords, the retainers of a God.
“YOU WHAT?!” Rosalyn appeared in front of Alice, shrugging off Ria and Luke.
She lifted the girl up by the back of her collar.
“You killed a what again?!?! Say it! I f*cking dare you!” Rosalyn was positively seething with rage as Alice could practically see steam escaping her nose with each deep breath that she took.
“Ahem. Kazira – Apostle of War and Abyss Lord of Tyranny. I killed her for my sixth Sigil since the Will forced the bounty on me.” Alice squirmed under her gaze, poking her fingers together.
*SNAP!!!
Rosalyn felt as though something in her brain just broke and a tsunami of rage burst forth.
“So you’re telling me, the most BATSH*T INSANE God has just lost her Apostle?! I should kill you right now.”
Pulling Alice closer, Rosalyn opened her palm in front of Alice.
Tilting her head to the side, Alice wasn’t sure what Rosalyn was asking for. She blinked her eyes, confused and gently placed her hand on top of Rosalyn’s palm.
*SMACK!!!
“What are you?! A dog?! I’m asking for your pouch not your f*cking paw!” Rosalyn smacked Alice on the head, causing her to yelp out in pain since it was unexpected.
“Why do you need my pouch for?!” Alice held her head in pain.
“Your mead dumbass! I’m confiscating it. It’s either that or death! Pick one!”
“I choose death!”
“Then die.”
“Wait wait wait wait!” Ria panicked seeing Rosalyn about to act.
“Let’s be civil and talk about this okay?! We haven’t seen each other in a long time and I’m sure there’s plenty to discuss! Let’s not get violent here!”
After all her training with Rosalyn, she knew that the Abyss Lord wasn’t kidding around.
She will literally kill you and then revive you if she has to!
“Actually, I got a question of my own. Why is Jin and Isolde tied up in the corner?” Alice pointed at the two.
Luke facepalmed.
“You just had to remind her of it.”
At this point, he couldn’t help but wonder if Alice was addicted to getting a scolding considering she kept on stepping on landmines.
Incomprehensible shouting exploded out with Alice being waved around like a ragdoll despite her injured status and Ria pleading for mercy.
Standing outside the door, Suyin debated for a moment before deciding to retreat. A wise general knows when to push and when to retreat. This is a moment for retreat.
###
It took great effort and even a bottle of Ayrian mead to appease Rosalyn, much to Alice’s sadness. And more than that, she wasn’t even allowed to drink while Rosalyn enjoyed it by herself.
Rosalyn had Alice explain everything that happened during the time they were gone, why she had two Eldritch beings with her, what happened in the North and why she was fighting an Apostle.
Alice didn’t hold anything back minus a few key details that the three already knew. Information that Isolde didn’t know yet.
Ria and Luke had reactions towards the Zenia family interfering in the north, the existence of Hybrids and now the cooperation between the family and the Eldritch beings.
Rosalyn showed visible displeasure at the fact that such a large scale ritual was held in the east during an anniversary, Jin having his body modified and now shipments being sent out to the world.
She thought she was keeping things contained but the operation was far bigger than what she had expected.
And once they were caught up with everything that happened, no one had a smile on their face.
“Sh*t. . .” Was all Rosalyn could say before letting out a deep sigh.
Her brother was already concerned by the growing levels of Eldritch energy in this world and this doesn’t make the situation any better.
In fact, it makes it 10 times worse.
“Even outside of what the Outer Gods are planning, we got a different problem at hand. Your awakening, every Lord felt that. Every single Lord, man or beast, knows that a new inheritor for the Abyss has appeared. We felt a heartbeat, an innate feeling that filled our mind.” Rosalyn stared at Alice with a serious expression.
“I don’t know how most people will react to that but let’s just say finding someone being happy about it outside of people we already know will be hard.”
“Yeah I figured. But it can’t be helped, it had to happen sooner or later.” Alice showed a reluctant smile.
“And I’d preferred it to be later. Lua was working hard to keep battles from escalating and Kaden is. . . Well. You already know what he’s busy with.” Rosalyn took another drink of the mead.
“So let’s focus on what we need to focus on. First, Eldritch energy. We need to get rid of the shipments and the main storage facility in the East. My brother should be able to handle that to some extent or at least give us a bit of help.” Rosalyn held up one finger.
“Second, we should crack down on the shipments that have already left the East. If it’s allowed to spread, who knows what it’ll do to another nation.”
Alice understood this fact deeply. The fact that even Feris was forced to erase a portion of the Void to keep it contained spoke volumes of its danger.
“Third, I’ll need to contact someone I know for them to clean up the corruption that has spread in this place already.” Rosalyn scratched her hair.
This was the most annoying thing.
Having normal people handle Eldritch energy was a death wish, even for Lords. They cannot escape the corruption and even if they could, remnants will still be left behind.
That’s why Rosalyn needed her. . . acquaintance to clean it up. He’s the only one who knows how.
“Actually I think I can sort that out soon. I’ve already been making the crystals needed to absorb the corruption.” Suyin spoke up, poking her head around the door.
“Eh?” Rosalyn blinked her eyes.
“She’s not lying. I showed her some stuff about Eldritch energy and she managed to solve it pretty quickly. She’s a genius.” Alice chuckled.
“But she’s just-”
“A normal human. I haven’t gotten a single bounty from the Abyss.” Suyin nodded her head, closing the door behind her.
Reaching into her pouch, she pulled out a single Eldritch crystal that she made before.
“Don’t worry, it’s safe to handle in this form. But I still need to figure out a proper way to dispose of it.”
Receiving the crystal, Rosalyn observed it for a moment, using her blood to poke and prod around the edges before handing it back.
She didn’t show it on her face but she was impressed by it.
“Seems like I don’t have to talk to the guy after all, good. Well, that’s point three sorted out all that’s left is point four.” Speaking up to this point, she turned her gaze towards Isolde.
“According to your words, This Zal-Ka’Rith was sponsoring her to a certain extent. But after taking the corpse of Kazira, he skedaddled away and left her behind. What do you want to do with her now?”
Turning to Isolde, Alice was silent.
She could see that Isolde was in deep thought considering her smile had faded away. However, she was still their only connection to Zal-Ka’Rith so she didn’t want to be hasty about her choice.
“Leave her be for now. We can talk about it later.” Alice sighed.
“Then that brings us to point five, which I’ve just added. Shouldn’t we take your new Sigil for a test run? I’m quite interested by what kind of power you got from killing an apostle.” Rosalyn grinned as Ria agreed.
After hearing these words, Alice paused momentarily before nodding. Her fighting spirit was invigorated as she too wanted to demonstrate what she got. And if it worked as planned, which it had a high chance of, this Sigil would unlock countless possibilities that she hadn’t even thought about before.
Possibilities that were once closed off to her.
What do you think?
